Brewed on 1/17/17. I was able to pick up a 16.9 oz. bottle at my local liquor store as the brewer was doing a tasting. This beer poured a reddish amber with a solid 1 inch creamy head which hung around. Odor of slightly sweet bourbon with a fruity background. Amazing taste. Immediate sense of the aged rye along with a slightly sweet and fruity aftertaste. Outstanding beer!

Been excited to try their beers for a while since I heard about them. Haven't gotten over there yet, but they finally showed up at Julios. Looks like I may have picked the worst one to try first, but let's see. batch and collaboration #2, bottled 11/05/16

Pours a nice fizzy bubbly foamy almost 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, little lacing, some decent but not super long legs, slight clear semi hazy amber auburn almost chestnut color.

Nose is loaded with perfumey alcohol, fusel not quite turpentine level but up there, big sweet rummy aromas, sweet fruit and candy, a little candied apple, sugar cane rum, sweet caramel malt base adding to the candied apple.

Taste brings velvelty like creamy reddish malt base, toasted caramel and toasted reddish malts with a little biscuity note, booze washes over, a little alcohol burn but not a ton, lots of rum again, sugar cane rum with a little candy molasses note, more candied apple and generic tree fruit, touch of toffee and fig, a little fusel booze note. Finish is sticky a little sweet, lingering candied apple and rum mostly, a little bitterness lingering late as well.

mouth is med bod, an interesting small bubble creamy carbonation almost like Nitro but not quite that level, some booze tingle and heat.

Overall not bad, way too much alcohol to really get through before I can get to the base beer which seems OK but not great either.

This beer is the collab no.2 aged in Bully Boy whiskey barrels. Bottled 1/17.
9.4%ABV

Poured a cloudy amber color in a tulip with a 4F head which took a while to subside.
Nice lacing.

Aroma- I could smell oak before getting the nose near the glass. Oak and whiskey.

MF: very light body. This very well could work with the intense taste profile of the beer, but perhaps a slightly heavier body would enhance the flavor more.

Taste: there's a lot here. fruit, oak, whisky, all well balanced.

This brewery is taking approaches to a craft unlike any other. Definitely brewing with a distinct craft signature.

Pours clear, reddish-brown in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is big peaty whiskey, rum, rye, light smoke, alcohol, and cedar. Heavy bodied, sweet with light bitterness, and medium-low carbonation. Very boozy and woody. Tastes way more like a spirit than a beer. Pales in comparison to the first Barrel House Z beer I tried. I am sure some will love this, but for me, the flavors just do not mix correctly and what is left is alcohol. A pass for me.

12 oz Jamaican rum barrel version poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a copper amber color with good clarityand vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Jamaican rum, vanilla, spicy, juicy grapes, booze, caramel, and toasted.

Taste: Nice rum flavor up front, vanilla, spice, a little burn, some alcohol, caramel, and toasted malts.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium bodied, rum barreled booze, medium to high carbonation, and a little dry.

Overall: Got to admit that I love this version of this beer. A bit of juiciness of Jamaican rum compliments and adds complexity to this beer. Very cool stuff.
