Look – Murky amber body with a finger of white head
Aroma – Lots of cinnamon. Good malty presence. Getting almost a dark fruit component with raisins. Good punch of nutmeg hidden in the back.
Taste – This has a deep amber taste with big malt and biscuit notes. A spike of citrus keeps it moving along. The biggest spice present is nutmeg. Cinnamon is more subtle here than it was on the nose. IT is deep in flavor as compared to a lot of other pumpkin ales. The combo of zesty citrus and dark, malty notes play off each other well.
Mouthfeel – Full-bodied with lingering bitterness. The amber ale base makes for a more dry feel, but enough of that citrus adds to the drinkability
Overall – A complex offering with flavors to satisfy all pumpkin beer enthusiasts. The amber base and pumpkin spices worked well together. This one is begging for a rum barrel.
