Named for the nuclear site 2 miles from the brewery this, our flagship IPA, packs a juicy citrus punch with four hops like the four cooling towers of TMI. This beer is bound to leave a flavor meltdown on your tastebuds.

Not much going on here. Nice lacing. No hops to speak of in the nose or on the palate. Pretty weak tasting.

Some of this CAN's history. I have been diagnosed with elevated levels of PSA, a byproduct of my prostate & I have to make routine visits to the Hershey Medical Center. I had an invasive biopsy in March that showed that everything is benign, but until I get better insurance, I take the train to Harrisburg & a bus to HER. On this trip, I stopped off in Middletown on the way home from HBG for a visit & procured some CANs for The CANQuest (tm). I did not have this CAN, or its mates, in the queue until the heat made them pooch out in unwanted ways. It was into the reefer & here we go!
From the CAN: "Double India Pale Ale". Hmm.
This was a poocher, so I Crack!ed it open& beCAN a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. An in-glass swirl raised a quick finger of soapy, foamy, tawny head that was gone very quickly. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose smelled like yet another mélange of hops from pine to citrus to tropical. It was almost like they either could not make up their mind or did not have enough of any one hop varietal to make the batch. I love hoppy beers, but this just seemed unfocused on the nose. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was more tropical than anything else, but I also caught caramel malt as well as some pine and grapefruit. Hmm. It was okay, but it lacked the bitterness which is the hallmark of the style, Finish was semi-dry, but now I found myself with an itch that was not being scratched. Bottom line: it needs dialed in. This was like a bee's waggledance: all over the place.

Pours hazy yellow-orange with decent head. Smell is assorted fruity hops and some creaminess. Taste is peach and orange with faint hint of creaminess, ending with a soft but juicy feel and some nondescript bitterness on the back end. Tastes as much of actual orange and peach juice as it does fruity hops. Good NEIPA style beer. No trace of booziness despite the ABV.

Sampling a cold growler poured into a snifter. I picked up the growler at the brewpub after a recent beer dinner event.
The beer pours a very hazy goldenrod color with lots of suspended sediment. Im still not 100% on board with the hazy IPA thing yet, but that is just me. A frothy bleached white head of 3 cm foams up and fades to a wispy surface layer with clingy lattice that sticks to the glass after each sip.
The aroma is a lot of hop punch, with pine sap and a little pithy rind, and a general dank vegetal hit. No hiding that this is an IPA.
First sip reveals an average to light body with a slightly slick texture and very fine slightly tingly carbonation. The physical traits of this beer make it very easy to drink.
Flavor is a bit of sweet grainy or caramel malt and then dominated by fairly bitter hops. Some pie sap and dank resiny notes dominate on my palate with hops. The beer finishes very dry and leaves an astringent aspirin hop bite on each swallow. I dont really get any booze on this beer and find it to be pretty drinkable yet very bitter, so expect that from your pint if you order one at the pub.
A pretty solid bitey IPA.
