It is the ocCANsion of New Beer Sunday (Week 682) & I am CANducting a brewery horizontal of Tattered Flag Brewery in advance of my planned visit on W, 28 March 2018. Viva The CANQuest (tm)!
From the CAN: "Craft Beer * Raise a Flag"; "India Pale Ale".
I Crack!ed the CAN open & CANmenced a slow, gentle Glug. My efforts seemed to pay off since the clarity was there when I finished. An in-glass swirl raised two-plus fingers of foamy, rocky, bone-white head that showed modest retention before fading to wisps, but leaving nice lacing in its wake. Color was Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was citrusy, but unlike the previous offering from them, this was grapefruit & lemon, rather than grapefruit & orange. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste followed the nose pretty closely with a high level of bitterness. It probably would not appeal to everyone & I would be curious to know its measured IBUs, but it was fine for this self-described, self-avowed hophead. Finish was dry, citrusy, bitter & a nice addition to The CANQuest (tm).

No canning date but given the appearance and mouthfeel seemed appropriate. Here are the rest of my thoughts.
This was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a semi-murky dull orange to copper color with a thin cap of a little white foamy head. It dissipated to leave some concave crisp subtle lace running here and there.
The aroma had some bland woody bits up front with a dried floral thin hoppy grip. Blatant dulled malts.
The flavor was basically the same and it made it hard to take down. I hate to drainpour, it's not in my nature but I came close to wanting to. Aftertaste was woody dry and malty.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with not much sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Semi-crisp to slightly sticky mentality about it on my tongue.
Overall, appearance and mouthfeel were it's best traits. I hate to slam beers but have to admit that it seemed like a bad homebrew. As a military veteran myself, I heard this brewery is a military veteran brewer, if anything, I hope the rest of their beers are better.
