Collaboration with Wolf Brewing Co.
Straight from Latin American churrerias to your glass - via our friends at Costco - Tattered Flag and Wolf Brewing Company bring you Boulangerie Imperial Churro Stout. Brewed with whole churros, then conditioned on ceylon cinnamon and the finest vanilla beans, this is truly pastry in a glass. Todo el mundo deberÃa creer en algo. Yo creo que debemos tomar otra cerveza. Salud!

I spent a CANsiderable amount of time yesterday taking & resizing pictures of (especially) CANs since one of the basic tenets of The CANQuest (tm) is NO drinking, reviewing & rating of beers until an approved pic is in place. This CAN CANtribute to the backlog, but I just CANnot bring myself to Crack! open a CAN when there is no pic for posterity. It especially galls me when a brewery claims themselves on here & then does not do due diligence.
From the CAN: "Boulangerie Stout Series"; "In Collaboration with Wolf Brewing Co."; "Malt Beverage with Natural Flavors".
First off, Wolf B.C. is a start-up in Mechanicsburg so it was nice of TFBSW to throw the Wolf a bone! I love churros, having "discovered" them at the old Jack Murphy Stadium along with Rubio's fish tacos.
Now, I just needed to Crack! open the vent & get a C-Line Glug going. It fizzed & foamed to form a brief finger of fizzy, foamy, rocky, deep-brown head with limited retention. Color was a solid Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing ZERO light penetration. Nose was chocolaty & RIS-like, but it did not evoke churros. Mouthfeel was medium, but light for the style. The taste was great! G-r-r-r-reat, said the Wolf as he pulled them from the oven! Very spicy with an emphasis on cinnamon, but with a pleasant (not overwhelming) chocolatiness and a light bready maltiness that tied it all together. Yum! Oh man, I rarely miss Cali, but there are times like these that I would not mind chomping on a churro. 8=( I have a spiced Stout from Left Hand that I am going to cool down & drink later, having been inspired by this one. I really dug the sweet spiciness & would definitely have this again. That said, the ABV is crazy, yo! Is the Wolf trying to lull me to sleep or at least into a torpor? It may be working! CAN you help me?!? Finish was dry, as any beer that inCANporates spices as an adjunct should be expected to be. I am now going to have to watch for this series as they become available, YMMV.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
