Very dark brown, almost black, with ruby brown highlights. Opaque. Very small tan head.
Roasted malt dominates both the aroma and flavor, creating a base of chocolate and light coffee. Firm bitterness from a combination of the roasted malt and earthy hops. Clean and medium bodied with long lasting flavor.
Could be improved by toning down the bitterness, which would create a smoother malt flavor, but a nice beer overall. Paired nicely with a smoked brisket and provolone sandwich!
