This stock barley wine is not just your ordinary strong ale. Brewed five years ago, aged in oak and then cellared in the bottle. It deserved the time to mature into a balanced plum, sherry and rich fruit delight. 2013 vintage.

Pours murky dark brown, bit of sediment, almost flat. Smells lots of dried fruit, tart oak, sherry. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Taste is right on point, oldschool English. Loads of oak and its acidity, raisins, some sherry, bit drying. Damn good, thx Billy!

2013 vintage thanks to Thirstybird. Pours a lovely, dull mahogany hue with no head, just a tight, off-white and around the shoulders. There's a slight haze to the clarity. Lots of sherry on the nose; some candied figs in the background. Quite a bit of ethanol present in the nose. Taste is somewhat watery and oxidized - notes of sherry and fruit are very much diminished. There's also some characteristics (e.g. leather and tobacco) akin to a flanders oud brune. Mouthfeel is light and watery with an almost still carbonation. Overall, seems past its prime after five years.
