Really starting to enjoy these Pope's Yards! Pours dark brown, slightly reddish, hardly any head. Smells roasty, dark chocolate. Nice body. Taste has a surprising amount of rich, tart cherries. Bit sweet, hint of sourness, and that bitter kirsch flavor.

330ml bottle served in my Spiegelau tulip. Best by 11.10.2020 printed on the label. Pours one shade shy of black with a fizzy, half inch, mocha-colored head the sizzles and pops and quickly recedes towards the edges. Nose expresses hints of roast, cherry juice and cocoa in the background. Taste follows nose - cherry flavor is overly present and somewhat acidic and dominates the flavor profile. After the initial hit there is a little cocoa and char; however, it's a bit indistinct. Finishes with some milk sugar sweetness. Mouthfeel is somewhat light for the style and carbonation is assertive. There's also a noticeable astringency. Overall, too acidic and unbalanced. Malt profile is pretty much non-existent.
