This beer was brewed and named in honor of Cleveland's longest running and continually operating, and apparently also world famous, concert venues, the Cleveland Agora. This is a concert venue I frequent, and it also happens to be less than a mile away from this brewery. I am at a concert at the Agora right now and am drinking this Altbier on-tap there. Served to me in a plastic pint glass cup, this beer draws a clear dark copper color with a white head that's about an inch thick when the beer's first drawn. Settles to a medium sized to thick ring lining the inside of the glass with big cluster swirls of film layers of surface foam and decent lacing. Aromas of somewhat toasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness along with some floral and earthy hops. Taste is pretty much the same, with a somewhat toasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness that gives way tonsils floral and earthy hops with a bit of bitterness. While although the flavor profile is certainly balanced, the malt sweetness dominates flavor profile overall. Which is as it should be. Has a crisp, yet smooth and frothy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a slightly dry aftertaste. The sweet flavor notes like to sit on the back of my tongue and coat the inside of my mouth nicely after each sip. A good beer all around here.
