Double dry hopped IPA with Madagascar vanilla bean, tangerine, and orange zests added. Vanilla makes this "ecto" brew unique from its companions. Or does the Ecto make it unique from its fellow Cream Pops?

The sheer amount of sediment and particulate in this beer kill anything positive about it... it's as if I've taken a beer and dumped powdered sugar that has clumped up in it... I used a very gentle pour due to the fact that I'd heard this characteristic about this particular beer....didn't matter... smells good and tastes ok... the appearance is so offputting... not a repeat buy for sure...

Pours a golden color with LOTS of particulate floating around the glass. Nose is like a cream pop (shocker). Taste is way too sweet for my liking. Very thick for an IPA. not my favorite Decadent beer.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but is a recent local release. Pours very hazy/cloudy deep golden/amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, orange juice/zest, vanilla, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, orange juice/zest, vanilla, and bready malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, lightly sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.7%. Overall this is an incredible fruited milkshake NEIPA. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, orange juice/zest, vanilla, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/drying finish; amazingly soft feel. Amazing balance of juicy/lightly dank Citra/Mosaic hops and orange juice/zests; with perfectly balanced vanilla, and wheat/oat/malt sweetness. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected. Just as impressive as the rest of their flavored NEIPAs.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on January 16, 2019. Vanilla makes this "ecto" brew unique from its companions. Nice orange cream flavor.

Pouring from a 16 oz. can into a Willi Becher style glass, this beer pours hazy and bright orange. Sediment floating throughout. It forms a two finger off white, lemon tinted, dense and creamy crown. Heavy lacing throughout. 4.25
The smell brings smooth sweetness of vanilla mixing with the citrus of tangerine/orange zest/peel. 4.25
The taste comes in with beautiful vanilla sweetness before showing quick hints of the orange zest/peel. Some tangerine. 4.5
The mouthfeel is wildly creamy, exactly what I want from milkshake style IPAs. Creamy and full bodied. Very balanced citrus tang just to let you know it’s there. Really can’t dock it here. 5
Overall, I feel like Decadent always nails their Milkshake IPAs. I’ve come to trust them with the style more than anyone else so far. They always provide a great balance of the flavors they want to provide and an amazing sweetness and creaminess. The only thing I would knock this on really is the sediment floating in apperance and the smell, while beautiful, could bring a little more to the table. 4.5

Their milkshake iPA brings all the hopheads to the bar. Or at lease emulating the orange creamsicle does. That's why the Decadent Ales team rolls a reckless amount of vanilla and oranges into an imperial strength New England styled IPA. If strolling down the memory lane of flavor is your thing, then this is your beer.
Ecto Cream Pop pours with a somewhat ridiculously turbid haze that's set in a matte orange finish. Pastel in its saturation, the frothy ale leads with the unmistakable scent of orange cream soda, sweet breadiness and a hint of botanical grasses and herbs. Vanilla spice heightens the impressions of sweetness as a cereal fueled taste of cookie dough, taffy, poundcake and honey show that this hoppy beer has a sweet side.
An explosion of all-things-orange bounces the flavors off the middle palate like pop rocks. Its lavish creamed candy, pulled candy and caramelized orange syrups lay unabashedly on the tastebuds, fueled with tangerine, mandarin orange, blood orange, kumquat and then a hint of juicy red grapefruit. A mild suggestion of mango, apricot and papaya permeate the orange dominance, but barely. A moderately bitter late palate comes with verbena spice, sassafras, juniper and a quick hit of peppery, botanical gin.
Full bodied and offering a slight and peppery resin finish, the juicy IPA trends late on the aftertaste with the curious echoes of chive, cannabis and tea for an updated taste of cream soda with the hop head in mind.
