this is super old, canned in october of last year, clearly these are not quite resonating here in idaho. i actually thought it was solid, even at this age, mostly because in reality this is more fruit beer than ipa by any measure, and its gotten some time to settle out in the can, the bottom inch of this is pure sludge, but the beer i poured carefully into the glass looks great, neon reddish pink with a high lightly pink stained head and despite some haze, no real sediment to it. the nose is juicy, generically tropical at first, but i can appreciate elements from each fruit as i take it in more deliberately, especially the passion fruit and papaya, really nice that its not pineapple dominated, and it still seems compatibly dry hopped, although by the time i get to tasting it much of the hops are gone. the fruit still seems fresh and bright in the flavor, maybe there is a little yogurty sort of lacto thing going on, but it seems well enough in tact. the hops are lightly oxidized but this isnt green or anything. equal contributions from all the fruits, a little sweetness through the whole thing, and some light herbal character remaining from the hops. some alcohol pushing through but this is drinkable and sneaky strong, great carbonation too, perhaps some unintended can conditioning doing it some textural favors. light tang in the finish, some faded hop bitterness but it doesnt burn, and some passion fruit brightness as well, overall quite good especially considering its this old and supposed to be ipa. weird but decent, the jury is still out for me on these guys...

Pours a pink color like the passion fruit juice it has in it. Weird to see this color in an IPA. The smell was nice and hoppy with the tropical aromas of the fruits adding to it. Really enjoyed smelling it every time I took a drink. The hops didn't get overshadowed by the fruit juices. So, it was blended nicely. However, there was a astringent and slightly sour after taste that threw me off at first. But then I accepted it and enjoyed the rest. My first foray into the Decadent Ale line. They have some weird combos but after trying this one I would try some others.
