Pours hazy, gold in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is pineapple and booze. Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter. Nice beer, although not sure I get upside down cake.

This one just explodes out of a pint can. The pour into a clear glass liter mug must be paused several times because of the foam. But, it's short-lived and within a minute or two, the can contents are completely within the vessel. Very little glass lacing remains after the head recedes. There is a poignant aroma of pineapple to be had. So much for the smell analysis. Surprisingly, with pineapple, cherry and caramelized sugar listed as ingredients, this doesn't drink too sweetly. Once all of the foam recedes, it looks much like pineapple juice, just a little darker and duller. But, the pineapple within the taste is subdued and the cherry and sugar are even more so. The IPA category is accurate, as this has a nice hoppy bite from midstream through the finish. This isn't close to being a fruited sour. That's pretty amazing considering the pineapple nose hit at the beginning. It goes across the tongue thinly for any style of IPA and there's not really a complexity to taste, as the cherries seem almost without contribution. This might pass as a pineapple infused IPA, but it's certainly not a desert beer, should its name mislead. The high ABV isn't really detectable.

Decent DIPA. Some pineapple and caramelized sugar flavor. Light cherry flavor on the back end. Not much cake flavor but it wasn’t needed. This is another good one from Decadent but as is par for the course, the flavors leave something to be had as far as depth and complexity.
