Look: hazy, orange juice. Fat plush off white head.
Smell: not getting macadamia, or almond overtly, but nose is great. Tropical fruits, hints of coconut.
Taste: like the nose, juicy, creamy, tropical and again some coconut.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 05/07/21
Poured into a Tree House glass a very nice cloudy pale yellow/orange color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some very nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango, peach), with some pretty nice almond/macadamia, nice little spice/nutmeg note, pretty nice diesel like. The taste is very nice hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango, peach), with some very nice almond/macadamia, pretty nice spice/nutmeg note, pretty nice diesel like, pretty nice little sweetness. Full body, ABV hidden very nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a very tasty beer. Orange Julius! Addictive! MilkShake! Nice to see it around here.

Decadent have definitely made some really weird concoctions since first showing up in my area some time in later 2018 or so, but I haven't seen a lot of their output show up in my market footprint recently. There have been a few, but I've been missing some of their crazier double IPAs with odd fruits and other ingredients. Even despite the general sense of zaniness, the beers would usually at least be intriguing, and some were downright great. My interest was certainly piqued by this, then, a triple IPA brewed with almonds and macadamia nuts. No real idea what to expect, but I guess one of the main questions on my mind is how does the overarching "IPA" style play into a beer like this? This is, of course, the same brewery that's made a double toasted marshmallow IPA and a spiced French toast IPA, so... maybe I shouldn't be too concerned.
The pour is kinda anonymous but good for the most part. It's a deep-orange, saturated looking liquid with a dense opacity to the body. It's topped off with a generous helping of foam that builds to a few fingers, leaving behind excellent tiered lace patterns as it sinks to a quarter-finger with solid, appreciable legs. Looks just like pretty much every other "high-quality NEIPA" out there these days, but it's objectively nice looking so I can't really fault them.
The nose is very coconut-forward, which is weird. Perhaps my brain associates macadamias with tropical climes, and thus with coconuts? Not sure, but I also do pull out a good amount of mango and guava, so I think this was probably made to be really tropical in general, which I guess is extension of the association theory I just posited. I also really would not be surprised to find out that they did some kind of DDH or TDH with Sabro or Cashmere (or both) here to drive that coconut element home. If you hate coconut, or nuts in general, you probably shouldn't buy this. It's just that intense with these types of elements.
Strong and blunt ethanol presence on the tongue combined with hefty tropical flavors. Can definitely feel myself catching a decent buzz just from sipping on it, and the flavors are rather rich with an oily hoppiness that brings out vibrant papaya, mango, and sweet orange with the aforementioned coconut doing a lot of work as well. A little bit of nutmeg-like spice and hints of rum here after it warms, so that's something. I'm kind of iffy on this, though, in general. It's just really syrupy and densely-packed, but there isn't a lot of complexity, and it sorta feels one-note despite that note being, I guess, technically-correct and accurate to the description in a sense. I think I want more almond here, and I don't really know why it's so intensely tropical/coconut-biased. That said, almost every sip has me shrugging and continuing to drink it, so it must be doing something right. Definitely an odd brew. One of those that I would probably not recommend nor ever seek out to drink again, but which I find to be at least quality enough to rate positively.
