Marzen is a German style lager that is traditionally brewed for Oktoberfest. Our Marzen is brewed with Vienna and Munich malts. The result is a malty, easy drinking beer with notes of fresh baked break, caramel and a slight noble hop character. Prost!

Dark amber, nice feel, right amount of carbination. Aroma was mistly malts and what seemed to be possibly fruit. It was okay but just seemed thin on the actual flavor

Overall, it's a decent tasting beer that doesn't quite hit the mark as a marzen. But for me, it's hard to judge this style by what it is rather than what it isn't because this isn't an IPA or some stout; and, I don't necessarily crave innovation with a marzen. Anyhow...

A: One of the darker marzens I've stumbled across. A too dark burgundy in the dark that turns an aggressive maple-amber when the light filters thru. Head is fairly short lived, and a dirty white if I've ever seen one.

S: Caramel, raisin, figs. Malt intensity is overwhelming. It's not necessarily interesting. Furthermore, it's muddled.

M: Generates a viscous mouthfeel to start. Remains creamy without any crispness.

T: Pumpernickel bread, untoasted, with a fruit spread. Nothing too offset a molasses sweetness.

Pint can. Canned on 8/31/17.

Deep amber color on the pour with good clarity. Very small head though, really missing that big, frothy head.

Aroma totally misses the mark for the style. Very fruity, almost vinious. Is that cherry? Sweet candy-like caramel. Where are the bready malts? Flavor profile is way too heavy and not smooth at all. Does not feel like a lager. It feels flat and does not invite you back for another sip.

I was pretty excited to find this local brewery not only making a Märzen, but canning it as well. And 16 oz cans to boot! But this one needs to go back to the drawing board.

Looks/smells exactly like an Oktoberfest should , with a wonderful caramel/malt flavor profile. Maybe a tad sweeter than other Oktoberfests on shelves
