Deepest black color with a thick dark caramel head with great retention.
Aroma with notes of grains, licorice, pine, grape jelly and a bit of cocoa.
Flavor with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, spices, cocoa, smoke, burnt grains, oat, lots of licorice and mild moth balls. Dry and bitter aftertaste.
Full velvety body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 11% is superbly hidden.
A lot of kudos on execution, feeling and appearance, but something is off in the flavor on this fruity RIS. Maybe those Patagonian hops I am not so fond of (if any). A bit cloying, too. I found their Oatmeal Stout excellent, though.
