Poured into a MacAndrew's thistle glass. Pours a medium to dark orange red with a half finger off-white head that dissipates to a thin cap with light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, raisins and a touch of peat. Flavor follows with caramel malt, raisins, dates and a hint of smoke; malty toffee finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A solid domestic take on the wee heavy style. Base malt and toffee flavors are good. A little on the sweet side and could use some more assertive peat flavor, but a satisfying malty ale overall. Nice finish.

L: Appearance of over brewed reddish black tea. A tight thinner frothy white ring that climbs the glass with some clumpy lacing.
S: Strong bready malts and caramel and toffee notes.
T: Follows the nose and equally powerful. Right caramel breadiness.
F: Average weight with a light tingle of carbonation.
O: Not bad but blunt in flavor and balance. This one could stand a touch of subtlety.
