this is a local coffee infused version of their pats porter, and its the best of the three beers i had when i visited maxline. its shiny obsidian black, with nearly an inch of airy tan head on top, light looking against such a dark base although not white itself. aroma is awesome, all coffee, woodchip coffee i have not heard of before, but the quality is obvious here, roasty and very dark, even a little smokey in there with the warming vibe and the dark unmalted barley in here. its got very little body and very little sweetness, which i think help the coffee really stand out, they must have blended in quite a lot of it, all after fermentation i would think, as this is really low acid like a cold brew, and seemingly insanely fresh on the coffee side of things. notes of dark chocolate and burnt drip coffee, along with espresso beans and lit cigar, this is really earthy and deep and quite complex as they go. i didnt try the regular porter without the coffee, but its obvious from this one that the base porter is excellent in its own right. really tasty coffee beer here, some caffeine buzz along with it too!
