Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a super hazy light orange juice like color with a one finger head of puffy white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a sweeter tropical fruit and citrus smell with lots of tangerine, orange, mango, pineapple and papaya. Along with these smells comes notes of grapefruit and floral hop as well as a bit of a sweet sugary smell mixed with notes of lemon. Overall rather fruity, sweet, and delicious.
Taste – The taste starts out with a sweet tangerine and orange flavor mixed with some grapefruit hop and a bit of the tropical fruit sweetness (mango and papaya) that was also in the nose. AS the taste moves forward some bready malt and a bit of herbal and grainy flavors also come to the tongue, mixing nicely with the sweeter fruit tastes. Toward the end of the flavor transition, the sweetness and herb surge a bit, while the bready gets a bit lighter, and with a touch of lemon, one is left with a still rather citrusy and fruity, moderately hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew rather thick with a carbonation level that is low. For the tastes and the style the feel is pretty good, making for a flavorful slower sipper.
Overall – A rather nice hazy IPA. One to try if you have the opportunity.
