Wild Acre’s take on the traditional doppelbock, Bock Bock is a bold imperial bock with a robust 8.8% ABV that’s as bold as the Lone Star State. The gloves are off – finally, a proper Texas-sized bock.

Appearance: Fairly clear amber read body is crowned by a moderate, coarse white head with good retention. Thin, finely-beaded lacing coats the glass wall in scattered patches. Clouds of minute bubbles drift lazily to the surface.
Aroma: Sweet caramel, toasted malt, roasted nuts, and mildly earthy hops.
Taste: The taste begins with caramel and dark toasted malt; there is also a pleasant character of roasted nuts, Midway through the taste, some earthy and herbal hops appear, these linger mildly to the end of the taste. Largely absent, save for a bit of pleasant warmth, is the alcohol, this is surprising, at a relatively high ABV of 8.8 percent. Late in the taste, dark roasted malts vie with earthy hops to bring the taste to a graceful close.
Mouth feel: Very soft, full, and pleasant, with just a hint of gentle carbonation and a full body.
Drinkability/notes: A fine example of a Doppelbock, which compares well to German-made examples. Then, too, it seems well-suited to this bitterly cold Central Texas day, where the high temperature was but 23 degrees Fahrenheit. Wild Acre Bock Bock does not disappoint.
Presentation: Packaged in a slender twelve-ounce aluminum can, à la Michelob Ultra , served in a La Fin du Monde tulip.
