a limited release from buckleys, only 100 750 ml bottles released. stoutbot and i polished off no 68, and it proved to be a pretty decent, tho not outstanding ale. did have some interesting characteristics and showed the potential to improve with age.

cloudly color, orange with a slightly pinkish hue, looked a little like fruit juice in that sense. curious but not necessarily a bad thing. the beer also came along wtih a white foamy head that did stay. smell was very rich and fruity, not surprising given the appearance. kind of peachy, quite malty also, and had a some hop sizzle on top of this. taste was unusual, particualrly fruity, again peaches were detected, along with what i could have sworn was a berry like presence, strawberries to be more precise. also had sweetish malts which would surely develop further in intensity with cellaring. the hops didnt quite match the flavor in the sense that they were obsucred by the sweet taste of the beer. this needs to go up a notch and may well do so with time. i was a little disappointed as it smelled like the hops would have more punch. still this pale ale did go down nicely in the hot conditions. were it not for the lack of availability i would certainly drink this again, and even put a few down and see how they went.

id like to see buckleys bring out some more of this so i could give further assessment.this pale ale has plenty of individuality, and im confident it would bottle condition excellently. needs to pack more oomph down back, but on the whole, a good brew that could be great with further development.
