Duality is the contrast between two concepts, a common theme these days. Bitter and sweet, not many flavor combinations go so well together and represent dualism. Rich, toasty, bready, coffee-like flavors meld to form perfect duality. Maybe we can all find places where dualism makes the sum better than the parts.

Solid BBA choice. The variants are better.

16 oz can, into That! NE IPA snifter.
Mahogany colored pour yields a black body with slight streaks of mahogany. The head is 1 finger and khaki in color.
Aroma of pleasant ash, burnt dark chocolate, pipe tobacco, leather, hops, and roasted malt.
Flavor is ashy and bitter but not overly so; counterbalanced with a dark chocolate sweetness and hints of caramel malt, dark toast, some fig, some raisin, and some sweet pipe tobacco.
Feel is a tad light, but still medium-plus; roasty, moderate alcohol but still well-hidden considering the ABV; slick, and lingering resins on the finish.
Overall, a very solid imperial stout. Great balance of sweet and ashy-bitter. I'd definitely return to this one.

16oz undated can poured into nonic pint glass at fridge temp 10% ABV per label. The beer pours dense black with mocha brown head. The head builds slowly on a hard pour and settles to a thin cap of fine bubbles. Leaves a wall of lacing as you drink. The aroma is bittersweet with dark chocolate and coffee notes. The taste is bittersweet as well with notes of caramel and ashy dark roasted malt. Moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, ok. Very standard big stout dominated by ashy & bitter flavors. No big flaws and the alcohol is well hidden.
