There's a hint of haze in the rather dark amber brew, and plenty of foam in the Orval chalice. Fairly hot with alcohol and quite spritzy, so it's a lively mouthful. Aromas of melon and pine with some serious jet fuel fumes.
Flavors of bitter orange peel with some resins, plenty of malt. IBUs are rated at 87, and it's certainly bitter in the aftertaste but not excessively so. Overall it's a long hammer of an IPA but an interesting one to sip. From the 16 oz crowler filled at the brewery restaurant. Happy to see the smaller size so I can try more of Bastion's beers.
