This is described as a barrel aged Belgian Red Ale and it's back for a second year. Clear red-amber brew with plenty of foam in the Timermans goblet. Spritzy mouthfeel and creamy carbonation make it a delight to sip. Rich, warm flavors with sweet malt to begin. Then the sharp touch of something lively in the oak barrel.
Czech Saaz are the hops, adding a little leafy and spicy note along with the oak. Dried pear is the taste that lingers, with spice in the nose. It's really quite a delicious combination of tangy barrel flavors with the mellow, malty Belgian sweet taste. This would be the ideal Christmas beer-- sweet, spicy, and rich with a nice dose of alcohol. From the 16 oz crowler filled at the brewery tasting room.
