Lovely shade of red-amber with plenty of foam in the Hopleaf snifter. Warm and malty but not overly sweet. Woodsy and cedar scented. There is that distinctive Roasted malt is the flavor with caramel in every sip. Toast, a hint of fruitcake, and that mellow dark grainy taste.
Plenty of spritz on the tongue and a substantial malty mouthfeel. There is some alcohol taste and a fruity finish. This is a very drinkable sort of Doppelbock. Another well-made brew from an interesting corner of Washington. From the 32 oz growler filled at the brewery tasting room.
