Draft pour on cask at the brewery. It pours a dark iced tea color with a generous, milky head and lots of thick, soapy lacing. A lovely pour. The smell is big and aromatic with toffee, nutty malt, tobacco, leather, and mild citrus. Initially, its taste is dominated by sweet toffee balanced by earthy, nutty char and tobacco. As it breathes there is also notes of lemon peel. The Elixir hops are the wild card and add a spicy bitterness throughout that sets Forest Floor apart from the typical English Pale Mild. It has excellent depth of flavor. It's served at the appropriate temperature and is expectedly creamy. And considering its 4.3% ABV it's not overly lite. Overall, Forest Floor is a very tasty, enjoyable pub ale. Kudos to Ludlam first for brewing the style and second for serving it on cask.
