Served on cask at the brewery. It pours a dark mahogany color with a half finger of creamy, khaki head and thin sheen of lacing. It's an attractive pour. The smell is robust with a strong scent of vanilla, along with chocolate and earthy char. The vanilla bean is more subtle - and less sweet- than the nose would indicate. While I didn't smell it, there is a strong, acidic coffee presence with semi-sweet chocolate and earthy char bitterness. The mouth feel is thin for an Imperial Porter but the 10% ABV is warming. Overall, this is a tasty variant of Double Polar Bear. I enjoy vanilla bean in dark beer when it is used well. And it's a plus to drink this on cask.
