An odd beer as some have pointed out.
Lager qualities, along with qualities of an APA, but called a sparkling ale.
I get some 'C' hops out of it and it claims to be from it's original recipe from 1886? Would these hops have been available in Oz in 1886? Thats assuming the beer's recipe originates from Oz.
Basically, a good clean, easy drinking beer. Approachable for those who are new to to craft beer, but a good enough whack of flavour for me.
reminded me somewhat of LCPA, but toned down a bit.
Enjoyable.

Looks like a very standard lager, with light yellowish colour and a fairly thick white head, furious bubbling when first poured. LAcing is OK but not great. Looks pretty alright.
Fair amount of hops on the nose, with very few other characters. Slight citrus undertone, bit of sweetness. Wouldn't say I'm overly impressed.
Taste is dominated by a fair amount of rich blended hops. Has a sweet cereal character, with an ever so slightly sour character mostly on the mid palate. Bit of a herbal edge, with an inoffensive, clean finish. Nice exciting feel with effervescence to burn.
Very European in style and taste, nothing too exciting but certainly a clean, drinkable beer.

This beer has a split personality. At first sniff & sip, I could have sworn it was an American Pale. After a few minutes, it became more like the common German lagers.
Pours a hazy yellow orange. Thin white head, and some good bubbling. Leaves a nice lace.
Very fruity aromas. Apricots, some honeycomb. The longer it sits in the glass, the more malty it becomes, reminding me more of Euro Lager.
Initial flavours of citrus, tropical fruits. Pale malts. Some herbal hops following through. Again, the fruitiness dissipates after a few minutes in the glass.
Unusual profile for a beer described as "traditional Pilsner style":

Medium body, light to medium bitterness, fairly crisp finish.

The brewers claim to bre this with the same handcrafted philopsophy that they make their wines .Well will it be born out ?
In a word no.
Pretty innocuous European Pale LAger having lots of sweet malts and littleelse to differentiate or entertain the palate.
The smell is Euro malt , so its round and smooth , but there is a course herbaceous smell in there as well.
It is lighter than mid gold in colour and has a head ( for just a little while 0.
No lace and plenty of bead.
The mouthfeel is particularly oily and thick which dulls what flavours are there.Tastes like a liquified digestive biscuitwith a slight biterness to show that hops were indeed used in the brewingprocess.
I am afraid this is a boring beer, not refreshing and has a monotonal taste.
On a happier note their wines are of a better quality than their beer.

Golden in colour, thin white head, very low carbonation
Unique aromas that are almost white wine like - grassy, white fruits (peach, melon) - with only a trace of malt.
Palate has good flavour of some slightly zingy hops and a nice malt base. however, the palate is short but does leave a nice crisp clean flavour. This cleaness leaves it rather refreshing.
Good alternative to standard pale lagers of this country.

no mention of ale or lager on the label had me guessing, but the aroma is all grass, as in your average pale lager. actually, probably a bit better than average.
clear gold in color with a very fine, foamy head.
lightly spicy, lemony flavor, and fairly good mouthfeel.
a pale lager that doesnt fall in to the bland trap that so many do.

very distinctive beer from pikes, one thats quite hard to pin down. some would say its a little unbalanced in terms of its aromas, tastes and textures, but it takes some quite unusual qualities and puts them all together in what winds up being a very refreshing and drinkable beer.
bold golden color, with a smooth frothy head. strong hops aroma, fair bit of malt, with a sweet tinge. flavor has a sweet vanilla like taste, whith a citrus fuitiness and some orchard fruits also. good level of malt, and tho the hoppiness of the nose is not reflected in the mouth, still finishes with a crisp bitterness. nice and bubbly, this medium bodied beer goes to work in all the right areas.
calls itself a sparkling ale, which im not sure is the case and doesnt quite compare to coopers, which i feel is the standard for the style. but as a lager, its one of the better ones floating around. its pretty cheap $$$ wise and has interesting qualities which very much make it worthwhile getting into the rotation every so often.

Nice beer, fruity and malty with a slight bitter finish, easy downing, and not cloying or anything, pretty nice flavour, without being complex, light bodied, a bit fizzy aswell, and pretty thin in general, uninspiring, but drinkable all the same.....
