Collaboration with Devil's Peak Brewing Company
A dark roasted coffee and vanilla porter with a hint of danger. A nod to the speed-crazed bikers who risked life and limb to race from one greasy spoon café to the next. One sip, and you will know why this is a multi award winner.

Copenhagen 16/2 2023. 40 cl from tap at Mikkeller & Friends, Stefansgade, Kbh. N.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. A bit bubbly. Disappears after a minute leaving a tranquil black fluid behind. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a sugary sweet scent of pastries. Dark malts, brown sugar in abundance, vanilla and honey. Whiff of alcohol.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong tart sourness. Aftertaste is sourish with a bitter undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
I assume they eat pastries when they visit their Café in Scotland.

330 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of roast malts, chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Soft mouthfeel. Smooth flavour with the same elements as the aroma, some sweetness but not too much. Moderate bittering hops in the finish. Very enjoyable.

44cl Can from brewery website (£2.89):
Jet black with a thin, tan brown lacing around the circumference & a bit in the middle too. It's quite sweet with coconut & vanilla, a few roasted malts & a tiny bit of coffee at the end. The taste is similarly sweet with lots of vanilla, creamy milk chocolate flavours & a roasted malt backing. The body was smooth, medium & softly carbonated making it very easy to drink too.

CAN
Viscous jet with puffy, pocked tan; coffee ice cream nose; chocolate truffle, cream puff, cafe au lait; smooth + round.

Why say coffee then add lactose + vanilla? Especially when the coffee is pushed to the rear. Ends up a big, slick, sweet dessert beer with no roast to cut it. Common Grounds does the same thing so much better at 1% lower. Decent for what it is, but doesn’t do what it says on the tin.

Black motor oil colour. Aromas of vanilla, milk chocolate, and dutch processed cocoa. Tastes lighter than expected. Dry and crisp throughout, carbonation is a bit high. Flavours of bitter cacao nib, espresso notes, bitter in hops and slight burnt grain finish. Easy drinker.

Pour from bottle to snifter.
Total blackness with absolutely no head even with vigorous agitation. Aroma dominated by roasted coffee. Taste is quality mocha with some fruit notes that you get from really dark chocolate. A bit one dimensional but what a dimension! Mouthfeel is very soft, reflecting low carbonation. Pleasantly surprised by this local Scottish beer; completely outclassed offerings from it's better known neighbours.
Good effort from Fierce. Cheers!
