L- Very lively carbonation the pour, but the head *entirely* clears within a few seconds. Murky gold, minor rising carbonation if held up to a halogen lamp. Put the glass down on my desk and it looks entirely CO2 free - not a great look.
S- It has the mild spicing of a hefeweizen. I get the noted scent of banana but not yet clove.
T- Sour, dry, bitter, some unid. fruit notes.
F- The CO2 seems to have gone, it seems virtually absent in the mouth. It's 5.0%ABV but the dry aridity of the taste makes the ABV hard to detect.
O- This beer goes over my head, I lived in Germany for 3 years and it's nothing like a Hefeweizen to me. I wonder if there would be a market for it in Germany, perhaps not with the lable apparently featuring Germany's Kaiser Willhelm2 (who amongst other things led Germany into defeat in WW1) in full military dress uniform, with his head replaced by that of a stunned looking deer [!].
Bought from Waitrose, 440ml can £1.65. BB: '06/08/2[unclear]' but bought in the past week or two. ps. EmporerBevis you do it again, must be the 4th or 5th time now, your adding this [briefly imagined] 'new BA listing' candidate of mine just after I've bought it, added it to Gots and before I get to rate it - I'm starting to wonder if you work in a branch of Waitrose ;)
