Guess I'm the first to review this beer on this site. I'm not 100% sure about the style, so maybe someone will change it when more information comes to light. It's not listed on Fahr's website as of now. Untapped calls it a Dunkelweizen, which I'm positive is wrong, there is no weizen here. Don't think it's a wheat beer at all. It's called Dunkel, so I've just put it in European Dark Lagers. The only reason I didn't call it a Munich Dunkel is because Fahr already makes one of those (they call it Munich).
Anyway. It pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a mahogany edge when held to the light. Lazy, large-bubbled, finger and a half head dissipates quickly. Its description says :"Banana. Chocolate chip. Bread." That puts me in mind of a Doppelbock, though the ABV on this is only 5.3%. The smell follows that description exactly, just like a Doppelbock. The taste does follow, but is somewhat short-lived, and could be much richer with flavour profile like this. The carbonation is very soft, in fact barely noticeable, even moreso than with Fahr's other beers, which I've noticed all seem to be lightly carbonated. Overall this is a tasty beer with a lovely aroma, but if you compare it to a good Doppelbock, which its flavour profile matches, the flavour is not quite as rich or long-lasting. As a regular dark lager, it's quite good and unique.
