Our story begins with three “four-eyed” men who grew up down the street from each other in suburban St. Paul. 15 years and $1,000 later, we purchased our first system, an all-grain homebrewing setup that has traveled with us ever since. After becoming proficient with our all-grain setup through years of crafting pilot batches, we brought our knowledge and aspirations with us to Portland, OR where we translated what we learned from the garage to the brewery.

Now, a set of Portland Kettle Works equipment lives in the basement of the historic Pioneer Endicott building in Lowertown, Saint Paul (a building that once housed a basement saloon during its pre-Prohibition life). 12welve Eyes is no longer just the project of three amateurs-turned-pro. It is offering a jumping-off point to other industry newcomers – a place where those who are passionate about their craft are given the opportunity to hone their skills in a brewery for the first time.

All of these new perspectives allow us to see craft beer beyond the status quo. We’re creating the taproom and brewing the beer that we’ve always wanted.

This brewery is off the street, down some stairs. Maybe a bit light on the seating, but enough when at the moment. 10 beers on tap. The Cheery Chocolate Stout I am having is quite good. They do have crawlers to go. There isn't on street parking by it, but there's pay lots near by. Good place to go, and I will be back.

a really bad name for a brewery i think, but the beers are far better than the name. this place has been a long time coming and its quite cool, right down town in saint paul and sort of on a level thats half underground half above, on the ground floor of an apartment building or something, built in audience! i was blown away by how many beers they had on tap for being so new, i think i counted 12, but there may have been more. a lot of the beers were solid but safe, and the risks were their best. i really liked the dry hopped hefe, but all of them were drinkable and without evident flaws, and it seems like they are just getting started. the folks were super friendly too, both kind and knowledgeable, but also really attentive to us, our glasses never sat empty at all. i like when young people like this just go for it, these dudes obviously believe in themselves and have put in lot of work, it makes me want to support them and it makes me want them to be successful with this, despite the market saturation in minnesota generally speaking. i think the place is cool enough, the beer is off to a great start, and the people behind it genuine give a crap. that counts for a lot. looking forward to seeing how it all works out for them. go check it out!

Set in the below street level space of the turn of the century Endicott building right off of 4th and Jackson St. in St Paul. This has an entrance off of 4th street. Thought this might be dark and a speakeasy Wow was i impressed with how bright and modern they made this space, plenty of elbow room with low ceilings, 3 0r 4 TV's to watch sports a very inviting comfortable ambiance.. 12 brews are on tap with a monitor TV explaining the pours. I like that they had several styles available in many sized servings. Sampled many of the brews and will say they were well made, nothing absolutely blew me away, all were tasty thou. Looks like they have crowler sales now with food truck in the adjacent alley. The brewery is skyway connected and close to Mears park, Union Depot, CHS Field ,Arts & entertainment. Worth a stop for sure.
