Brown Ale

Sampled at the brewpub, it came out a medium clear brown under a one finger tan head with some bubbles. The head fades rather quickly, but generates some very nice lace. The nose is mild and nutty, but should be stronger. The mouth is too light and very prickly. The taste is mild, but still solid, with a bit of roasted nut. The hops are quite mild, really only partially moderating the sweet malt. The flavor remains balanced into the aftertaste, neither sweet nor bitter. It thus somehow falls between two stools, slightly disappointing.
