Got this from the Duvel Guy in Utrecht
From a 33cl can into a snifter
American B-wine aged on Japanese whisky barrels
APPEARANCE: Pours a 2+ finger, medium looking, creamy, fluffy, light brown head with great retention. A transparent dark rust in color with higher levels of carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full, foamy cap and leaves some lacing on the glass. A half wisp remains leaving solid lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Bold nose of oak, vanilla notes, caramel and toffee aromas, red fruits, berries and whisky on the nose.
TASTE: Whisky and alcohol up front, with notes of red fruits, raisins and oak at the swallow. Medium finish of whisky, sweet caramel, red fruits, berries, oak flavors, and a touch of vanilla linger after the swallow. Some alcohol as well.
PALATE: Medium body and slightly higher levels of carbonation for the style. A little foamy on the palate, goes down fine with a scratch at the swallow and finishes somewhat mouth coating. Some heat lingers.
OVERALL: This is solid. The flavor fits the bill and it’s enjoyable enough, though there’s a touch too much in the fruit department and the feel is a little foamy for top marks. Still, Frontaal has been doing great recently and this is another solid addition to their lineup. Good stuff and worth checking out if you see it. Cheers!
