Got this from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 33cl can into a snifter
Collaboration with De Moersleutel
NE DIPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, looser looking, foamy white head with good retention. Hazy amber orange in color with no real carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full wisp and ring. Splotchy wisp remains but leaves no real lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Caramel malts, honeydew melon, mango, passion fruit and some pineapple on the nose. Candy-like with plenty of tropical fruits. Some light alcohol as well.
TASTE: Caramel sweetness, some alcohol, with melon, honey and a nice tropical fruit character into the swallow. Bold finish of tropical fruits, mango and passionfruit, caramel and toffee sweetness, hints of pineapple and some alcohol linger after the swallow. Bold and flavorful.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth with on bite and finishes a touch mouth-coating. No bitterness lingers. Nice.
OVERALL: This is excellent stuff. The head could be a little more impressive for the style, but the sweet malt base is great and the burst of tropical fruit flavors is really nice as well. This is one I could definitely drink on a regular basis. Frontaal and De Moersleutel have hitting the ball hard recently. Definitely worth a pick up if you see it. Cheers!
