Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of slightly roasted, caramel malt and a strong Bourbon presence, as well as some chocolate and hints of vanilla and oak also coming through. Taste is a good balance of slightly roasted, quite caramelly malt, chocolate, dark/red fruit, with notes of raisin, plum and cranberry, lighter vanilla and hints of earthy oak, with a distinct bourbon presence as well. Finishes bittersweet, with some chocolate, dark fruit and Bourbon lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation.
This is a rather nice BBA Stout with a distinct Bourbon presence and good overall balance of sweet and earthy, slightly bitter notes, with the dark chocolate and fruits clearly dominating here, as well as some good vanilla and oak accents, leading to a rather warming finish. It's certainly quite a rich and somewhat complex brew, just a little too sweet and boozy for my personal taste.
