I dropped in at Jónás a few weeks ago to check out their beer selection and have a bite to eat. They moved a couple years back; they used to be over by the river, but are now right in the middle of Bikás Park, conveniently next to the M4 metro.

When I was there, they had a dozen or so beers on tap; as far as I can tell, all were Hungarian breweries. Styles included lagers, IPAs, sours, a Belgian wheat, and quite a few fruit beers; there was even an NA draft option. On top of this, they have at least a few dozen options in bottles and cans.

There’s a seating area indoors which was full-up on my visit, so I sat on the pretty spacious patio, which turned out to be great because you’re right in the middle of Bikás park, and it’s a great place to relax and people-watch. Service outdoors was good (in English or Hungarian). I got the fish & chips, and while the fries maybe weren’t the best, the fish and tartar were great. I’d definitely return to Jónás again, maybe sometime in the summer to fully enjoy that great patio.

I was able to stop by here a couple of times while visiting Budapest.

It is located in a redeveloped older building. They added a cool glass atrium to connect two older brick buildings.

They have a ton of outdoor space and are located right on the Danube. We chose to drink outside because the weather and the views were great.

You go into order as they didn’t offer table service when I was there. As you enter you will see a smallish bar with all the taps and the beer list. Service was friendly and was glad to talk “beer” in English.

They had a nice mix of styles and breweries. I remember really liking a Rye IPA and an unfiltered lager.

We spent a lot of time drinking in the various ruin bars in Budapest. Those were great and you could always get a few craft options in them. However, this place had by far the largest craft selection of any bar went into during our visit to this great city (cities).

This bar is right on the banks of the Danube river, a great location. They only serve Hungarian craft beer, which is worth sampling. The interior has an Industrial feel, and the bartenders know their beers. Worth stopping by !
