Poured from 330mL can into a tall kitchen glass. Best by 1/19/24. The brewery doesn't call this a kellerbier, but they do call it an "unfiltered session lager", so kellerbier seemed to fit the description.
Appearance: murky yellow-golden hue with two fingers of frothy white foam. It looks mysterious and tasty.
Smell: sweet malt with a rather yeasty aroma. It's not overly complex, but it has a certain earthiness to it that I like.
Taste: a little sweet, as well a just a little bit funky, almost like a light table saison. The malt flavor is good, and like the aroma it's a little yeasty. I don't know if they were going for a little bit of funk here, but I actually kind of like its earthy/grassy character.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess for the style. Something about the lack of filtration is maybe adding to the creamy texture?
Overall: the bit of saisoney funk, while unexpected, is not unwelcome. At 4.5% this is an interesting and likeable quaff.
