Poured from 440mL can into a tall kitchen glass. Best by 4/6/24. This has barley, wheat, and oats, and also red currant, cherry, and tonka beans.
Appearance: murky dark red-brown hue with a finger of tan foam atop. There's definitely some fruit in this bad boy!
Smell: sweet and slightly tart with a nice cherry aroma and a rich vanilla-cinnamon thing which has got to be the tonka beans. Since tonka beans are illegal as a food additive in the US, there's the thrill of rulebreaking here.
Taste: earthy, a bit on the sweet side, and just very slightly tart. The fermenting out of the cherry and currant gives it that earthy fruit-juice-without-sweetness thing, and the tonka bean is adding just enough vanilla/cinnamon/whatever to give it a delightful dessert character. I dig it!
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a smooth creaminess.
Overall: I like this beer a lot as a tasty treat. I couldn't drink two in a row, but one is just dandy!
