Poured from 330mL can into my BeerAdvocate teku. Best by 3/10/26.
Appearance: very dark brown, nearly black hue, with a finger of frothy tan foam that subsides to a thin, creamy layer. Very nice.
Smell: very sweet with notes of vanilla and plenty of caramel. And not just, like caramel malt -- straight-up caramel. The peanut aroma is kind of buried in the mix, but it's an interesting additional dimension. It's good, but there's a certain ... flatness to the aroma. Interesting, but nothing in it really pops.
Taste: sweet, very caramelly, just a little chocolately, and a little boozy. Again, the peanut butter is more of an accent, and I appreciate that it is relatively low in the mix. The caramel is the star for me, and I think the salt really gives it that little extra edge. The flavor definitely has a little more zing than the aroma ... I like it!
Mouthfeel: rich body with a low carbonation; it's okay but for an 11% dark beer like this, I'd like some more silky smooth creaminess.
Overall: a tasty, and interesting, imperial porter. Its sweetness definitely means it wouldn't be an every day beer for me, but as a dessert treat, it is nice.
