A: murky burnt orange and copper color. Had on draught so no head poured, but a small bright white film on the sides
s: sweet melons and raw hops. Honeycomb crackers and creamsicle. Papaya and some peach juice
T: tastes a bit raw. Raw hops, orange zest and some grapefruit. Crackers and a bit of butter tea leaf
M: medium, slightly fluffy. High medium carbonation
O: not sure I agree with the BA rating on this one. Tastes a bit raw, like hazy hop water with some bitterness

pretty solid hazy and one of better offerings on Mass. summer venture. Not exceptional, but good, I found this one to be a bit heartier than the normal NEIPAs in my wheelhouse.

A hazy-ish IPA. Smell suggests dry-hopped citrus, also hinted by the Citra and Simcoe hops.
Appearance is on the hazy side, though though maybe 25% of a true ‘hazy’ IPA.
Taste doesn’t have anywhere near as much grapefruit or citrus as you would expect from the smell. The notes are subtle. Mid taste and after taste are primarily bitter, though not excessively so.
Overall, tastes like a fairly standard ‘bitter’ IPA with 1/4 of its genes coming from a hazy grapefruit relative. It’s a hazy IPA for people who don’t really like hazy IPA’s, and really just want a good basic IPA with a little citrus.

Huge initial head (2/3 of the glass). Dense and recedes slowly and lumpily. Leaves extensive webby lace. The color is golden with a mild haze.
Mild aroma of mostly paler malts. I get some floral hop cones as well but it's weak.
The flavor is far more hoppy than the smell suggests. The malt is secondary and has an earthy taste. The body is neutral and the effervescence is slightly higher than expected. Chewy finish with a long aftertaste.

Best by date is 3/1/19; consumed on 11/17/18.
A: Poured from the can into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body is chill-hazed orangey-golden with a small white head on top.
S: On the sweeter side of the equation, with oranges and sweeter tropical fruit (mango, papaya) over caramel malt. Something faint is a little bit "off," hence the lower smell score.
T: Follows the nose, with caramel malt foundation, then citrusy (oranges, tangerines) hops, some modest sweet tropical fruit (mango) and a hint of piney bitterness at the finish.
M: Good carbonation bite, fairly smooth overall. Call it medium in heft.
O: A good old-school-style IPA.

A few years ago, this would have been considered a top New England IPA.
Today the fad is juicy-as-possible-i'm-pouring-grapefruit-juice-from-a-can. It was fun for a couple years but I'm tired of it. I'm very glad to have a reliable IPA that didn't try to capitalize on the fad. So today this is a quality "classic" New England IPA with a great taste.
Format: several 16oz can 4-packs from my local store's fridge
