Thoroughly enjoyed from the growler in a snifter via the brewery.
This unique take on an amber ale pours a deep reddish amber with
a nice off white head of foam that subsides to a thick ring, light pool,
and showcases light lacing. Nose of oak, vanilla, orange zest, and sweet
caramel malts malts. Flavors nail the nose and then some with vanilla
bean and subtle orange zest laced with light cream notes and sweet
caramel malts that are balanced with a light zesty hop note balanced with
oak. Very nice mouth feel; medium body, medium high carbonation keep
things lively, and a lightly creamy malt driven finish.
Some reminiscence of an "old fashioned" drink but more beer centered than other
versions of that I have tried. All in all this is one of the most approachable and
delicious amber ales I have tried to date.
Cheers
