Picked this up recently at Cable Beverage in New York, as I never heard of Broken Symmetry before. This was a textbook example of a New England IPA that wasn't particularly outstanding in any particular aspect, but was fine for kicking back with during yet another muggy night this summer!
Without a lot of surprise, this had a muddled, golden hue to it that was free of visible sediment and topped off with a sufficient head that was plenty fluffy. It settled quickly enough as there wasn't any lacing left behind once I worked my way through. Tons of booze, solvent, deep tropical fruit, and orange cream filled the nose as the taste as just as varied, turbid, and slightly sweet. Hard to pick up any particular hop or additional fruit flavors as this was too overpowered by it's potency on the palate. Sure, this was balanced, nicely carbonated, and had hints of sticky mango, jack fruit, and pine in the aftertaste but this was about as generic a beer of this type that I ever had as a list of ingredients sure would have come in handy.
No date was given on the bottom of the can either as I had no idea how fresh this was, although there wasn't any sediment to be seen in the liquid either. This was fine to enjoy but needed a bit more going for it, although it wasn't a bad impression from Broken Symmetry. At least the label was artful and unique!
