Always happy to try a new German pils, not sure what a Ruperti pils is, but about to find out.
Cool bottle design. Beautiful smooth foamy head and colour. Very musky aroma without much hops.
Flavour is smooth, well balanced, creamy full mouth feel. Hops are rather subtle for a pilsner. Possibly just enough to distinguish it from a Helles, but I still wouldn't call it a pilsner.
All flavours are quite subtle...honey. bitter dates and prunes doiminate. However the musky froth flavour is strong also. Overall this is rather well balanced but also quite un-alive and boring. Not a huge fan.
For a beer that has existed since 1666 and with such a great bottle design, top notch appearance and mouth feel, I was hoping for a bit more hops and malt flavour ; )

I am not the biggest fan of German Pilsener. I do prefer Helles, but as this could be found in my surprise package from Bavaria it ended up in my glass. Very typical it is with its dry bittereness from German hops and slim body. Well done, but still not my favourite style
