From notes taken on draft at Brouwers.
Deep rich gold body that is the old school version of opaque. Silky white head the smoothe consistency of whipped egg whites. Good retention, great lacing.
The nose was underwhelming. Creamy hints with a little bit of grassy/earthy. Easily overpowered by local sources.
At first blush the flavour was kind of 'meh' with a lead in of grainy malts and not much of the fresh hop character I was craving. Thank goodness I kept an open mind for the rest of the glass, as it expanded and found its footing about a third of the way down and really blossomed into something quite enjoyable, like the first season of a new TV show that kind of stumbles out of the blocks but really starts to come into its own after the third or fourth episode.
Layers begin to unfold, with the fresh hop character expressing itself quite nicely. Nectar rich with some floral and earth elements coming through. Pine bitterness brings it through to the finish in classic NWIPA style. Went from probably a 3.5 to a 4.25 over the course of the experience, so settle in at a 4.
Medium bodied sticky body complements the fresh character nicely.
I'd honestly never even heard of 20 Corners before, but being one of only two fresh hop beers on the menu I decided to explore a bit, and I'm glad I did. Solid northwest fresh hop brew.
