Solid black in the center with shiny brown edges and no head at all and a slick black surface where one should be.
Smell is mostly roasty and toasty, but has an unidentifiable, slightly pungent note.
Flavors of nice roast and dark toast come together before the swallow brings black licorice and a solid tangy coffee-like acidity. There's also an almond paste aftertaste. Overall the flavor profile is a lot less Irish and a bit more American than you would expect.
A big round body has a shy but emerging soft froth before the semi-dry, slightly sticky finish.
