A variant of Throughline Balaton (2019), our solera series of mixed culture golden sours, aged on locally grown Balaton Cherries. This portion of the batch was transferred into Two James bourbon barrels to age for an additional 9 months, before bottle conditioning with champagne yeast.

This beer pours a ruby hue with a fleeting head.
It has some sourness and tart cherry aroma.
Tart cherry flavor. Decent sourness. Little funk.
Thinner bodied with a dryish mouthfeel
Solid sour. I like "em real sour. This one is mild for my palate. But it hit the spot.

Poured into a tulip glass. A striking deep ruby red color, clear in the glass, with a small pink head that settled quickly. The aroma and taste lined up nicely, featuring rich, slightly sweet cherries with a mildly tart juiciness. The barrel was there but played a supporting role with subtle oaky and whiskey notes that complimented the heavy fruit presence. Elements of earth and funk were there as well. Light on the palate for the ABV. Not as complex as many sours, but the cherry flavor was exceptional.
