Conshohocken Brewing Co. - Bridgeport Brewpub "Schwarzbier"
$2/4 oz. on tap at the brewery on 19 August 2017
Notes: "Schwarzbier is an often overlooked style of dark lager from Bavaria. Despite it's dark appearance, it is very balanced and smooth without being roasty. Flavors like toffee, chocolate and baked bread dominate this malty brew. It finishes clean and dry, like a good lager should, begging for you to take another sip. 5.2% ABV". Dark mahogany brown body beneath a creamy tan head. Average head retention and lacing. The nose reveals grainy malt and bittersweet chocolate. The flavor follows with a touch of grassy and spicy hops. A stiff bitterness leads to a dry, lightly spicy finish. Medium bodied with a median carbonation level that's gently crisp and then smooth across the palate. Very nicely done, well balanced and rounded. A great example of the style.
