Copenhagen 12/4 2021. 33 cl bottle from Beerdealer web-shop. Drawing of Eurasian Coot in front of a landscape littered with small houses and moping kids.
Pours murky brown with a mid-sized off-white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam almost covering the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a dark, sweet odor mingling with a salty, peaty scent. Caramel and toffee. Salt water, seaweed, lightly smoked peat. Licorice.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a light sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness with a salty tang. Aftertaste is bitter with a harsh salty edge. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.
Nice salty and peaty Scottish Ale.

This is a scotch ale as imagined from the Netherlands. It is rich and malty but not sweet and very drinkable with this light peat character that does not bother but enhance the beer. This peat character is were it all goes wrong when you would like to brew an ale of the Scots. However, internationally that is what people want to have.
