Resurrected after a three year hiatus Big Eagle, the original Brew York big American pale returned in 2020 with even more hops and West Coast flavour. It quickly became a brewer and drinker favourite and took Gold as the best UK produced IPA at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) awards 2020.

Pours a semi clear amber with soft, soapy head.
Smell is fruity with notes of grapefruit, pine, strawberry jam, peach and green tea.
Taste is fruity and yeasty with notes of grapefruit, pine and tea with a solid bitterness. Very estery finish.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation.
Overall, a good IPA, but a bit too yeasty and estery.

Copenhagen 26/8 2024. 44 cl can from Meny, Vigerselv Allé, Frb. F. White can with a colorful rendering of a blue Eagle..
Pours unclear golden amber with a mid-sized frothy, white head. Stable. Settles as thin layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a scent of sweet tropical fruit and citric notes. Sweet pale malts and cardboard. Sweet peach and apricot. Grapefruit and lemon.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.
A bit sharp and quite dry.

440ml can.
L: Cloudy, burnt orange colour with a big, shaving cream head and spotty lacing.
S: Bold, vintage marmalade aroma.
T: Orange peel, pine & booze.
F: Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel and a long hop burn.
O: A rich, malty, boozy hop bomb. Bitter but not astringent, thanks to the solid malt underpinning. Good stuff.

A 330ml can with a BB of March 2018. Purchased recently from Tesco. I'm glad to see this young local brewery getting shelf space in the supermarkets.
A: Poured into an IPA glass. A rich, hazy amber hue with fine floating sediment and moderate carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy meringue-like foam that hangs around for a couple of minutes before reducing to a surface layer. Some lacing.
S: Aroma of bright, herbal hops with hints of grass/hay, mild citrus, subtle peel, floral notes, a touch of resin, caramel malt, earthy yeast and faint grain. Eschews the overt fruitiness of many current IPAs; nice.
T: Tastes of robust aromatic hops with notes of grass/hay, noble hops, herbs, light citrus, a hint of peel, mild pine resin, caramel malt, earthy yeast and subtle grain. A muscular hoppy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and decent body. Perhaps a tad insubstantial for the strength. Hop oils stimulate the palate. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, grass, earthy yeast and subtle malt.
O: Tasty - a well-crafted American IPA with substantial hop presence. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are grassy and lightly resinous. Malt and yeast supply a subtle canvas for the hops. Good body; perhaps a shade less textured than might be expected. Goes down a treat, deserves to be sampled.
