A 330ml can with a BB of June 2018. Purchased recently from Trembling Madness in York. Described on the label as a traditional Helles lager brewed with US hops.
A: Poured into a tulip. A clear golden hue with light carbonation. Produces a small head of white foam that settles and dissipates rapidly. Inauspicious.
S: Aroma of pale, grainy malt with hints of barley, subtle earthy yeast, faint grass/hay and the merest whiff of green apple. Smells like it's been matured properly, but the hop character is very subdued.
T: Tastes of pale malt with notes of grain, faint barley sugar, mild earthy yeast and delicate grass/hay. Dry, with a crisp, restrained bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with soft carbonation and decent body for the style. Still rather thin. Aftertaste of light malt, subtle yeast and a hint of grassiness.
O: OK but lacks depth. Subpar looks - no head retention. The aroma and flavour are clean but lacking in charisma, while the body is decent enough. The US hops don't make much of an impression. A pity, as I was hoping to like this more than I do. Caveat emptor.
